Irish Heritage Month

In recognition of the contribution of Irish Canadians to the story of Canada, the government of Canada has declared March as ‘Irish Heritage Month’ for the first time.
After the Irish first began to arrive here in “New France” in the 1600’s, they often faced extreme poverty and discrimination and in the 1800’s many more Irish arrived on coffin ships to escape the Great Famine. Despite many such challenges, they thrived and today almost 4.6 million Canadians trace their ancestry back to Ireland.

Blue Mountain Village will be raising the Irish Tri-colour Flag in a ceremony at 11:00am on March 17th at the front of the village. Irish dancers, pipers and local dignitaries will be in attendance and all are welcome.

There isn’t anywhere better to spend St. Patrick’s Day than at a genuine Irish pub with the Irish staff. You don’t have to be Irish to get your GREEN on and party like the Irish in the heart of the Blue Mountain Village.
